Kolkata-based Energy Development Company Limited (EDCL) has bagged three hydel projects in Uttarakhand through an open bidding process with the state government giving a final clearance.
The company, which will be investing Rs 105 crore in the three projects in Kumaon region, would be paying a premium of Rs 7 crore to the state government. The development premium is 4 per cent of the total cost.
The first project is 6.5 Mw Burthing on Jakula river in the hilly Pithoragarh district. Phooliabagar is the second project on Jakula river with a capacity of 5 Mw. The total investment in these two projects is Rs 64 crore. For these two projects, the company will be paying a premium of Rs 20.5 lakh per Mw to the government.
The third project is 5.5 Mw Balighat on Saryu river in Bageshwar district where an investment of Rs 41 crore is proposed. For this project, the premium is Rs 27 lakh per Mw.
For all the three projects, the Energy Development has already sent its letter of acceptance to the UIPC, an official said.
