HC stays CJM court''s order in Anupama murder case

Nainital, Jan 28 (PTI) Uttarakhand High Court has stayed the order of a Dehradun court directing to produce the twin children of Anupama Gulati, who was killed by her software engineer husband last year, before it on last Saturday of every month.

The stay came after a single-member bench of the High Court, headed by Justice V K Bist, yesterday admitted the petition of S K Pradhan, the maternal uncle of the kids.

Pradhan challenged the Dehradun Chief Judicial Magistrate''s order on the ground that their production before the court and meeting with their father Rajesh Gulati would adversely affect the mental development of the children, said M S Bist, the counsel for petitioner.

The High Court has now fixed February 14 as the next date of hearing, he said.

Pradhan was given the custody of his slain sister Anupama''s kids by the CJM court with a condition that he will have to produce them on last Saturday of every month where they would also meet their father Rajesh Gulati.

Pradhan had later filed a petition before the CJM to waive off the condition but it was rejected.
Anupama murder case came to light on December 12 last year, when the victim''s husband was arrested on a complaint by Pradhan. Later, Gulati confessed to have strangled Anupama on October 17, cut the body into pieces and hid them in a deep-freezer for nearly two months.

Police also recovered some pieces from Gulati''s rented accommodation here.
