Tarikhet (8 kms) : It is famous for the Gandhi Kuti and the temple of Golu Devta venerated in the Kumaon hills. Gandhi kuti at Tarikhet

A small hut now known as Gandhi kuti where Mahatma Gandhi “our bapu” the great lover of peace and non-violence and the father of our nation stayed for a length of time during the freedom movement. He came here in search of peace of mind which he found.

Non- cooperation movement was started by Bhagirath Pandey and his associates in this region by establishing Prem Vidyalaya, which was visited by Gandhiji in year 1929.
