Dehradun: After the appointment of the Chief Secretary was challenged in the Common Administrative Tribunal (CAT), the appointment of the Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttarakhand has also been taken to the CAT.
Senior IPS Officer Alok Bihari Lal has challenged the appointment of his junior Jyoti Swarup Pandey as the DGP of Uttarakhand.
The CAT has sent notices to the Chief Secretary, the present DGP and the Principal Secretary (Home) and asked them to reply by February 3, 2011 in this matter.
In his application, Alok Bihari Lal has pointed out that the names of JS Pandey, Satyavrat and his own were mulled for appointment as DGP.
JS Pandey was then appointed as the DGP in 2010, superceding him in seniority.
Lal has said that in 2007 too, Subhash Joshi of the 1976 batch who was junior to him was appointed as the DGP.
