Dehra Dun, Mar 27 (PTI) The growing demand for creation of new districts in Uttarakhand notwithstanding, the state government has said setting up of new administrative units is not on the cards.
In written replies to nearly half a dozen questions raised by opposition members in state assembly this week, Revenue Minister Diwakar Bhatt said the government is not considering setting up of new districts or administrative units in the state.
However, Bhatt agreed to the fact raised by Kedar Singh Rawat, who represents Yamunotri seat in the state Assembly, that people of developmental blocks of Mori, Naugaon, Mori and Barkot in Uttarkashi district have for years been agitating for the creation of new districts.
He gave similar replies to queries put up for Kashipur area in Udhamsingh Nagar, Dwarahaat in Almora district and Bironkhal in Pauri Garhwal district.
