Nearly 50,000 pilgrims have visited the four Himalayan shrines, collectively known as 'Chardham' during the first week of their reopening.
Chardham yatra was kicked off on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya on May 6 when the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri temples were reopened and since then nearly 50,000 pilgrims have visited all the four shrines, said Suratram Nautiyal, Vice Chairman of Chardham Development Board.
While Kedarnath reopened on May 8, Badrinath on May 9. All the inns, hotels and guest houses on the yatra route are occupied to their full capacity and Nautiyal hoped a record number of pilgrims will register their arrival this year.
All the four shrines attract lakhs of pilgrims every year during the yatra season from April-May to October-November.
