Body of a female elephant was found at the Chidiyapur forest area in Haridwar district here, officials said.
Forest officials saw two elephant calves roaming around an elephant body yesterday following which senior officers rushed to the spot and found the body of a female elephant there, they said.
The nature of death is still not known and the body has been sent for post-mortem, they said.
