DEHRADUN, May 13 -- Empowered committee of Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (UREDA), which is being led by the Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar, has cleared four projects of renewable energy in a meeting on Thursday.
For the purpose of setting up the projects of other resources - grid solar photo voltaic and alternate energy for self use, exemption would be given to UREDA for taking prior permission from the Government. With a view to take the Central assistance, UREDA would clear the proposal by itself after adequate technical examination and guidelines of the Union Government.
The co-generation bagasse based project of M/s Luxmi Sugar Mills, Ekbaalpur, Roorkie has been given green signal for availing subsidy from Government of India. Approval for provisional power purchase agreement has been given for transferring additional generated power to the grid. It may be mentioned here that the Luxmi Sugar Mills had given proposal of setting up of co-generation of 20 MW capacity to UREDA. Similarly, Sidheswari Paper Industry Ltd. Kashipur has been given approval for forwarding sanction of Central assistance. Sidheswari Paper Industry Ltd. would set up rice husk based 6 MW capacity biomass power generation project.
The empowered committee has cleared the proposal of M/s Uttam Sugar Mills, Roorkie, Haridwar for setting up of 15 MW renewable power project. Approval for signing provisional power purchase agreement has been given. Similarly, UREDA has been empowered to release Central assistance received from Government of India to Bharat Electronics Ltd Kotdwar, Pauri Garhwal. With this amount, Bharat Electronics Ltd. would set up off grid solar PV power plant to the capacity of 25 KW.
Director UREDA, Nitesh Kumar Jha informed that under the guidelines of the Government of India, subsidy for the setting of off grid solar power plants at Central/ State Government departments and local bodies, central assistance is admissible.
Secretary Energy, Umakant Panwar, Additional Secretary Finance. MC Joshi and senior officers of Forest and UREDA were present on the occasion.
