VARANASI: Under her 'Samagra Ganga Abhiyan' to save the national river, BJP leader Uma Bharati arrived in Varanasi on Wednesday afternoon.
Addressing a meeting at the auditorium of Varanasi Nagar Nigam, she described Ganga as the lifeline for a vast population of the country. She said that she would continue her movement until the holy river regains its glory. Highlighting the importance of Gangajal, she said that it is unfortunate that its flow is being threatened by constructing dams and hydro power generation plants.
She added that she has written letters to the chief ministers of UP, Uttarakhand, Bihar and West Bengal to draw their attention towards the plight of Ganga. She added that a holistic approach is needed to make the river clean and maintain its uninterrupted flow.
