Announcing to give 50 per cent grant to farmers growing arhar, a variety of pulses, Nishank said the 10,000 hectares presently under cultivation in the state would be increased to one lakh hectares in the next few years and nearly one lakh farmers would be benefited from the government's 50 per cent grant scheme. Referring to strengthening the education system in the state, Nishank said recruitment of teachers is being done on priority basis and arrangements are being made to provide free of cost education to nearly 8,000 children. Stating that the government would create 5,000 job opportunities for youths in the next six months, the Chief Minister also announced to increase the renumeration of Anganwadi workers from Rs 3,000 per month to Rs 3,500. He said the state government had already taken the initiative under Vision 2020 to make Uttarakhand a healthy, prosperous and educated state and claimed that it has already fulfilled more than 92 per cent of its announcements till date.
