The Uttarakhand government has received as many as 64 complaints of
violation of labour laws in different factories set up in SIDCUL
industrial area of Haridwar in two years, state labour and employment
minister Harish Chandra Durgapal said today.
In reply to a question raised by Adesh Chauhan (BJP), the
minister said the government received a total of 64 complaints of
violation of labour laws in two years time of 2010-11 and 2011-12 and 87
cases were registered against them.
However, he failed to give replies to supplementary questions
regarding the number of workers working on factory pay-rolls and on
contractual basis, the number of cases of child labour and the number of
raids conducted by the department during the period.
Later, on demand of the opposition BJP members, Assembly Speaker Govind
Singh Kunjwal suspended the question and directed the minister to
furnish the information to the house later.
