Uttarakhand women empowerment and child development minister Amrita
Rawat has asked state officials to fill nearly 2,444 posts lying vacant
in the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) as early as possible.
Giving directions during a review meeting here last evening, Rawat
asked officials to immediately begin the process to fill up the vacant
posts sanctioned for the scheme, an official release here said.
In this regard, she said in 14,947 Anganbadi Kendras being operated
in the state, only 13,800 Anganwadi workers are working, while the rest
of the 1,147 posts are lying vacant.
Similarly, she said in 5,120 mini Anganwadi Kendras, 3,823 workers are employed while 1,297 posts are still lying vacant.
Rawat said financial irregularities had surfaced during a special
audit of the department and directed officials concerned to probe into
them and prepare the report immediately.
Expressing dissatisfaction over non-utilisation of funds allocated
in previous years for various projects, Rawat said it showed the
lackadaisical attitude of the officials which would not be tolerated in
the future.
She stressed the need for full utilisation of funds so that people
can reap maximum benefits out of various schemes run by the government.
