New Delhi, Aug 12 (PTI) Monsoon rains swept across North
India bringing temperature down in most parts of the region,
as two persons were washed away in flood-affected region of
Uttarakhand.
Maximum temperature in national capital was recorded
35.2 degree Celsius, which is two degrees above normal while
the minimum settled at 25.4 degree Celsius, which is one
degree below normal.
Heavy rains continued in parts of Uttarakhand with all
the major rivers remaining in spate.
Two persons were washed away in flash floods in Kumaon
region of the state even as the relief works were in full
swing in the flood-hit Uttarkashi district.
Moderate rains and fog brought down temperature in
Himachal Pradesh as temperature in state capital Shimla
settled at 20.4 degree Celsius.
The sky remained heavily overcast with fog engulfing most
parts of the state.
Parts of Punjab and Haryana were also lashed by moderate
rains while maximum temperatures hovered close to the normal
levels.
Hisar in Haryana received heavy downpour of 41 mm and the
maximum temperature was recorded at 34 degree Celsius, the MeT
Office here said.
Chandigarh had partially overcast sky today and the
maximum here settled at 34 deg C.
Several places in Rajasthan recorded light to moderate
rainfall till evening.
Barmer recorded 40 mm rains followed by Chittorgarh,
Jodhpur, Dabok and Jaipur at 39, 35, 34.5 and 1.2 mm
respectively.
