Uttarakhand Opp seeks Bahuguna resignation

Leader of Opposition Ajay Bhatt has demanded resignation of Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna, saying when his own party MLAs have upped their ante against the functioning of the State Government, so the Chief Minister has no moral right to continue in the office.

During his visit to Kumon here on Sunday, he said that Congress MLA from Almora Manoj Tiwari has gone on hunger strike against his own Government, while senior Congress leader from Rudrapur, Tilak Raj Behar, has demanded removal of SSP, Udhamsinghnagar, questioning functioning of the same Government.

More so, one of the ruling party MLA had recently staged dharna in the national Capital against the State Government and the face-off between two senior Ministers like Agriculture Minister and Education Minister that continued for over a fortnight or so is also known to all in the State, Bhatt alleged.

“The recent outbursts of the MLAs and party leaders against their own Government is nothing but confirmation of what we have been saying for long,” he maintained.

“Among other things, I also raised the issue of some corruption charges aginst SSP, Udhamsinghnagar, in the State Legislative Assembly during the last session, but then the issue was just overlooked. Today one of the senior Congress leaders and former MLA from Rudrapur himself has come in the open against his own Government demanding the removal the aforesaid police official,” Bhatt said.
