BJP on Thursday asked the Uttarakhand government to seek enough funds
from the Centre to organise the Nanda Devi Raj Jaat yatra, a famous
religious and cultural event slated to be held in the state next year.
The state government should seek adequate funds to hold the
prestigious event in which people from all over the world participate,
BJP national spokesman Tarun Vijay told reporters here.
Held once
every 12 years, the yatra involving an arduous three-week trek around Mt
Nanda devi in Chamoli district, will be inaugurated this time by senior
BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, he said.
Nanda Devi Raj Jaat is one of
the world famous festivals of Uttarakhand with people from the entire
Garhwal and Kumaon divisions as well as other parts of the country and
the world participating in the Yatra.
