Only valid plaints should reach Lokayukta office’

Only valid complaints should reach the office of Lokayukta as it has been seen that most of the complaints related to corruption are registered by people with ulterior motives.
Under such circumstances, the Government faces difficulties in executing its power effectively. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna said this after laying the foundation stone for Lokayukta Bhawan at Sahastradhara Road in Dehradun on Wednesday.
After laying the foundation stone for the Lokayukta Bhawan to be constructed on 10, 000 square feet land at the cost of `25 crore, the CM said that Lokayukta was carrying out its responsibility of redressing public grievances after investigating them minutely. The investigation of allegations should be carried out properly so that people do not undergo unnecessary inconvenience. He observed that leveling allegations and character assassination had become common practices.
He called on the officers to work as per the rules and decorum to minimise public grievances. “Corruption has permeated deep into the system and to get rid of it change has to be brought about in people’s thinking. Corruption can be eradicated only with positive thinking and collective efforts,” he added.
Bahuguna said that several institutions and government offices have been established at Raipur area. Very soon an international standard sports stadium would be constructed near MP Sports College. “Government wants events like IPL to take place here like in Dharamshala,” he said.
Lokayukta Justice (retd) MM Ghildiyal said that Lokayukta played an important role in checking corruption taking place in administrative activities. The awareness in general public could help in the speedy resolution of public grievances, he added.
