There is need for focusing on planned development in Uttarakhand and the State Government is working on concrete work plans to facilitate this. The efforts of the State have been acknowledged with Uttarakhand receiving awards for the work done in the fields of woman empowerment, employment and general development, said State Planning Minister Dinesh Aggarwal while addressing mediapersons in Dehradun on Monday.
The Planning Minister said that Uttarakhand is progressing on the path of development with the State Government focusing on planned development through execution of concrete work plans. The Government is focusing on increasing the financial resources of Uttarakhand in order to strengthen the financial position of the State. “Uttarakhand is a mountainous State where women have played the most important role in facilitating development. The steps taken in Uttarakhand towards woman empowerment have been recognised and won the State a national award. In the same way, the State has also received an award for the better work done in Uttarakhand in the employment sector. In the Diamond State Award function held in New Delhi a day ago, the State of Uttarakhand received the best small state award in three separate categories- woman empowerment, employment and best State. The Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar presented these awards,” said Aggarwal.
It is pertinent to mention that with Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna presently touring South Africa, Aggarwal had gone to New Delhi as a representative of the State to accept the awards. He said that Uttarakhand had overtaken other Indian states in the categories for which it was awarded. The Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah and deputy chief minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi were also among those who attended the function in New Delhi, said Aggarwal.
