Uttarakhand MLA's wife spotted wearing a coat made from LEOPARD skin

Dehradun: Uttarakhan MLA Pranav Singh 'Champion’s’ wife courted controversy when she was spotted wearing a coat made from the skin of a leopard.

Devyani Singh was photographed wearing the skin of the endangered animal. Hunting of leopard is banned under the Wildlife Protection Act in India.

'Champion' is known to possess a passion for guns and has been involved in a series of controversial incidents. In the past, he was asked to resign from the post of Forest Development Corporation chairman following his public outburst against Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna last year.

He was also involved in a shooting incident at cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat's residence which left two people injured.

Every year thousands of animals are killed to use their skins for making clothes and accessories. Many countries, including India have put a ban on using skin of endangered animals in clothing lines.

Several animal rights groups, like PETA, have been carrying out an active campaign against the use of animal skin to make clothes.
