Dehradun, June 22 To counter the BJP blitzkrieg on International Yoga Day, Chief Minister Harish Rawat has declared a plan for the dissemination of yoga, natural medical therapy and employment generation.
Rawat said yoga had formally been recognised by the global community through the declaration of International Yoga Day.
He said yoga originated in Uttarakhand and there were 20,000 trained yoga instructors in the state. “Celebrating yoga day is not an issue, but arranging employment for yoga instructors is a major concern. Perhaps, Uttarakhand is the only state which has come out with a plan on yoga,” he said.
The Chief Minister said the state government had made efforts to connect the natural beautiful tourist places to the folk culture and now yoga would also be connected with these naturally beautiful places. “Tourists visiting the Holy Himalayas and the Ganga may get an opportunity to learn yoga,” he said.
Rawat declared that one-hour morning yoga and natural medical therapy session would be conducted in all state ayurvedic hospitals daily and part-time trained yoga instructors would be employed for the purpose.
In the first phase, the plan would be implemented at district-level Ayurvedic hospitals. Every municipal corporation, municipality council and nagar panchayat would develop a park in their respective area as a yoga and natural therapy park and trained yoga instructors would be appointed in these parks by the body concerned.
He said this plan would be implemented on self-finance basis and the body concerned could delegate this task to any private institution, which can carry on this task with qualitative standard on its own expenses.
Chief Minister Harish Rawat informed that yoga and natural therapy would be included as an optional subject in the syllabus of selected middle education institution of the state. All working physical education teachers would be trained in yoga.
A yoga and natural medical department would be established in the Uttarakhand Ayurved University and self-financed certificate courses would be conducted through this department.
Yoga Gram (Yoga Villages) would be developed in various districts of the state to conduct the yoga training session for tourists. The Ayurveda and Tourism Departments would present a detail working plan in this context. Base camps would be set up at Rishikesh and Tanakpur for conducting yoga programmes. The Haridwar Development Authority and Irrigation Department of Uttar Pradesh would collectively conduct campaign at VIP ghat in Haridwar every morning.
Yoga instructors would be trained in foreign languages so that they may get employment across the world. He said after declaration of International Yoga Day, there is a huge demand of trained yoga instructors in foreign counties. Uttarakhand would be developed like Kerala for wellness tourism.
The Chief Minister also declared Dilraj Preet Kaur, a student of Dev Sanskriti University, as brand ambassador of the state for yoga. A committee, presided over by the Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Department, would be constituted for implementation of the plan. This committee would present a detail working plan to a state-level approval committee presided over by the infrastructure development commissioner for approval. After getting approval from the state-level approval committee, the working plan would be implemented effectively by the committee.
