As per a PTI report, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC) has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) for promotion of tourism in the hilly state, especially the launch of pilgrim packages for the next year's Ardh Kumbh Mela at Haridwar and projecting Uttarakhand as a Yoga destination.
The MoU would facilitate launch of a string of initiatives to jointly promote tourism in Uttarakhand, an IRCTC official said.
As per the plan, IRCTC would develop packages for the Ardh Kumbh Mela at Haridwar to be held in 2016 and Chardham Yatra (Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri), besides promoting Uttarakhand as a Yoga destination.
Besides, measures would be taken to project Uttarakhand as a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) hub to allure corporate entities.
Another area of cooperation is promotion of wildlife tours for the Jim Corbett National Park and Rajaji National Park. (Source: PTI)
