Chief Minister Harish Rawat has sought immediate release of funds promised by the Centre for reconstruction and rehabilitation of the disaster-hit areas of the state.
Addressing a press conference in Dehradun today, Rawat, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Rishikesh, said he had effectively put forward the concerns of the state before the Prime Minister and the latter too had given him a positive response.
He apprised that a Cabinet committee had approved a reconstruction package for a period of three years and the money must now be released promptly.
He also raised the issue of curtailing of funds under centrally sponsored schemes. “We must be paid adequate compensation for the reduced funds, that are a fallout of the new funding pattern of the Centre,” Rawat said. In his meeting with Prime Minister Modi, the Chief Minister also sought a revival package for Indian Drug Pharmaceutical Limited. He also asked the Prime Minister for a special package for the state.
Rawat also accused the Uttarakhand BJP leaders of failing to utilise the opportunity of the Prime Minister’s visit to Rishikesh to raise the concerns of the state.
