DEHRADUN: Chief minister Harish Rawat on Thursday invited domestic and international investors to consider the economically prosperous tarai areas in Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar districts, apart from hill districts in view of the tremendous potential for investment in different areas in the hill state.
"I am sure that once you invest either in the industrial sector in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts or on agro-based small and middle industries including medicinal herbs and small and medium hydropower projects, it will turn out to be a fruitful exercise not only to you but also to the hill state," said Rawat.
Addressing a huge gathering of potential investors, diplomats and delegates from across the globe after launching the e-governance SIIDCUL Smart City portal at a business conclave held in New Delhi, Rawat said the portal aims at providing a single window system to investors coming from across India and overseas. The chief minister made it clear that the specially crafted SIIDCUL Smart City system would provide lots of facilities to investors through a single window.
The business conclave, known as 4th Invest North, was organized by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) to showcase the untapped investment potential of northern states. "We are fully committed to enhancing the ease of doing business in our state and assure our full support to industry," said Rawat, adding that the Smart City system was a step further in this direction.
A senior government functionary said the system was specially designed and developed for industrial development agencies of the state government and available in various modules like GIS-based business process management, knowledge management, SCADA system for city and streetlights, water/power, pollution and traffic management, industrial waste management, drainage and sewerage management as well as city surveillance.
Chief secretary Rakesh Sharma, while addressing the gathering, said the business process management system supports the complete business life cycle of industrial areas, from acquisition and allocation of land to lease maintenance of land for 90 years.
According to officials, calculation of property (land or building) prices, maintenance and miscellaneous charges based on various parameters such as area, rate per square metre and interest rates for industrial estates, online submission of applications for plots in industrial estates, online plot planning by industrial estate authorities and online payment entry and generation of payment receipts efficiently.
Officials added that this online system is set to revolutionize approval processes, increase transparency and reduce chances of errors due to minimal human interface. The new industry applicants can easily view the vacant plot and its location on the GIS portal, in addition to the currents rates and policies of SIIDCUL industrial estate.
