From New Delhi: Chiliyanaula, Approx 6 hrs temperature: 20-22 degrees Chiliyanaula is located near Ranikhet, Uttarakhand. An ideal weekend destination, it has a lot of scenic beauty. 

The Hairakhan temple is very popular here. The weather is pleasant, so carry light woollens with you. 

To get there: This location is situated at a distance of 360 kms from New Delhi. Take the NH-24 to  Haldwani or Kathgodam to NH 87E get there.

Jhoola Devi Ram Mandir: 7 Kms. from Ranikhet on the way to Chaubatia, known for its temples devoted to the Godess Durga and Lord Rama.

Doonagiri Temple
Doonagiri: Doonagiri is a place of religious importance. It is famous for its temples of Durga from where one can have a good view of Gogas valleys.

Naithna Devi: 35 Kms. from Chukhutia, 34 Kms. from Bhikiasen and 54 Kms. from Ranikhet, the famous temple of Durga is situated at a 4 Kms. walk from Dola Village.

Mankameshwar: This temple is attached to the Nar Singh Maidan (Ground), constructed by the Kumaon regiment. Opposite the temple is a Gurudwara and a Shawl factory.

Binsar Mahadev: 19 Kms. from from Ranikhet, on the way to Ramnagar and 2 Kms from Sonidant, amidst dense Pine and Deodar forests. The Shiva Temples of Binsar Mahadev are a unique place for meditation and picnics.



Hairakhan Temple (Chilianaula): 4 Kms. from Ranikhet is famous for the temple of Baba Haira Khan. It commands a panoramic view of the Himalayas.



Tarikhet: 8 Kms. from Ranikhet is a well known for its Gandhi Kuti, and the temple of Golu Devta is venerated in the Kumaon region.

Chaubatia: 10 kms. away and popularly known as orchard country, commands a picturesque view of the Himalayas.

Bhaludam: 3 kms. from Chaubatia, known for its artificial lake and picnic spots.

Upat and Kalika: 5kms. from Ranikhet, on the main road to Almora is one of the best 9-hole golf courses in the area and is surrounded by lush pine forests. The Kali temple and a forest nursery nearby are worth visiting. It could be an ideal location for film shooting.

Majkhali: 13kms. from, Ranikhet, on the way to Almora, Majkhali offers a close view of the snowy heights.

Chaukhutia: Chaukhutia is famous for its natural beauty and fishing centre. It is about 54kms enroute to Badrinath.

Manila: Manila ( meaning enchanting ) is 87kms. from Ranikhet & 75kms. from Ramnagar. Manila is the seat of Manila Devi - the family Goddess of the Katyuri clan. The forest and the Himalayan view from this hill is enchanting.

Jaurasi: 6000ft., above sea level, 16kms. from Chaukhutia, Jaurasi is famous for its panoramic view.

Khairna: 22kms. from Ranikhet on the Nanital route, it is famous for fishing.

Hairakhan Temple at Chiliyanaula

It is 4 km far from the town of Ranikhet at Chiliyanaula where the Temple of Hairakhan is located. This temple was built by Shri Hairakhan Maharaj who is said to be the incarnation of Lord Shiva. From this place one can get a comprehensive view of the bestowed nature and the lofty Himalayan ranges. The GD Birla Memorial School is very close to this place.

Baba Hairakhan was a a popular local saint in the region with a large following and stories of his powers are a part of the folklore here. A well maintained ashram built in his memory lies 4 kms from Ranikhet and offers a peaceful ambience and a beautiful view of the mountains.

Ranikhet is a hill station and cantonment town in Almora district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is the home for the Kumaon Regiment (KRC) & Naga Regiment and is maintained by the Indian Army.

Ranikhet is at an altitude of 1869 metres above sea level and within sight of the western peaks of the Himalayas. As we said earlier, there is nothing really to do in Ranikhet, except enjoy its glorious setting. But if you insist, here is a list of things to do in Ranikhet.

Chaubattia Garden
These Botanical gardens house a fruit research institute. Don't go by this cut and dried explanation and explore this undulating orchard. See apple, plum, cashew and apricot trees laden with flowers. See a variety of exotic flowers, especially orchids. Eat a picnic lunch!

Hairakhan Temple (4 km)
Located in the quaint hamlet of Chiliyanaula, the temple is run by the devotees of Baba Haida Khan who come from all over the world. The temple has clean premises, manicured gardens and a lovely view of the snow peaks. Later stroll through Chiliyanaula that has charming wooden houses and window boxes full of flowers.

Jhula Devi Temple
This is an 8th Century temple, revered by the locals. Conforming to the local traditions, every time someone's prayers are answered, a bell is tied in the temple premises. Today it is a charming sight, weighed down with thousands of bells.

Golf Course
A natural 9-hole golf course, this is one of the highest in the world. Tee away in the gentle mountain sun, and make some great memories. The stunning view of the snow peaks is a delight, as always.
