Dunagiri Temple in Kumaun, Uttarakhand
Dunagiri which is a part of the mountain brought by Lord Pabandev. From the highway, one can also climb a flight of 500 steps to get to the Durga temple or Paban Maharaj Ashram on the top of a hill. The Ashram provides both fooding and lodging. Moreover, the Ashram also provides a magnificent view of the different peaks of the Himalayas . Ranikhet, Almora and Kaushani are also visible. Other than Almora, from Someswar also (which falls enroute Chowkari- Gowaldam) there are buses available for Dwarahat and Dunagiri.

A rock climbing camp at Uttarakhand
Pitaria (Uttarakhand), Jan 16 : Adventure sport has got a boost among the youngsters of Uttarakhand following the start of a ten-day camp on rock climbing started at Pitaria.
The Himalayas and the Shivalik ranges in Uttarakhand have a wide potential to promote adventure sports like rock climbing.
The State Tourism Department created a special cell to motivate the youths by organising Adventure Foundation Camp from time-to-time.
"We want to make the youths of Uttarakhand aware about these bravery sports so that in future, they can opt for these sports as a career. Therefore, we arrange training camps from time-to-time to motivate the school children as well as the college students, who are searching options for their career," said Lata Bisht, adventure sports officer, Kumaon region, Uttarakhand.
This ten-day camp is being organised from January 11 till January 20. Not just the school children, but the youths of this region also seem keen to learn the techniques of rock climbing.
"We overcome our inner fear, that's why we are here. I wanted to know how it happens and thought of my career as well. We can definitely make a career out of it," said Bakita Sharma, a trainee.
Besides rock climbing, the trainees are also being taught bouldering, grappling and long pitch climbing. They are also being trained on map reading, flora and fauna and rope tangling.
"Initially, I feared a lot of climbing these rocks. But with the help of the instructors and teachers, I have overcome this fear and feeling very relaxed now," said Gaurav, a trainee.
Students learning in this camp are taking this sport as a challenge and claim to opt it as a career in future. More than five dozens of school children and youths have taken part in this camp.

Mukteshwar
Mukteshwar is a town and tourist destination in the Nainital District of Uttarakhand, India. It sits high in the Kumaon Hills at an altitude of 2286 meters (7500 feet).
On the recommendation of the Cattle Plague Commission, the Institute then known as the Imperial Bacteriological Laboratory had its genesis on December 9, 
1889 at Pune and later relocated to Mukteshwar in 1893 to facilitate segregation and quarantine of highly contagious organisms. Later it was developed into the Indian Veterinary Research Institute, which later moved its headquarters to Izzatnagar. Still Mukteshwar serves as the hill campus of IVRI, including various facilities such as an experimental goat farm.
Because of the hilly topography, agriculture in the area consists chiefly of potato fields and fruit orchards on terraces cut into the hillsides.
Mukteshwar is rich in scenic beauty, with magnificent views of the Indian Himalayas including India's second-highest peak, Nanda Devi. There is also a Renewable Park developed by The Energy and Resources Institute TERI. The renewable park is using solar electricity for most of its electricity needs. Recently, the town has experienced some construction activity and townships have begun to mushroom in and around Mukteshwar. Many people are buying holiday homes here to escape large chaotic cities.
