Dehra Dun, Dec 10 (PTI) Uttarakhand government is planning to bring in a bill for pay hike of all the 71 legislators of the hill state in the coming session of the state Asembly beginning from December 21.

The MLAs are expected to get a 40 to 50 per cent pay hike. Currently, each MLA gets a monthly salary, including various incentives, of around Rs 52,000.

After the proposed hike, the salary is likely to increase by 30 per cent, officials said.

The move follows a report by a legislative committee headed by Anil Nautiyal, which called for 40 per cent pay hike for the legislators recently. The committee had submitted its report early this year.

But after a change of guard in June this year, the onus fell on Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank to placate the legislators with the pay hike.
