Rescue & relief operation in full swing for flood hit Uttarakhand

(In Uttarkhand, rescue and relief operation is in full swing with the help of army and para military forces at various places of the state. Weather was clear in most of the places for the third consecutive day on Friday.

However relief work was affected in Pithoragarh following the rains. The operations for rescuing the group of 37 member Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims in Gunji was again got delayed due to bad weather conditions.

The pilgrims were stranded following the collapse of the bridge in Gunji for last three days. Met department predicts isolated rain in the next 24 hours at few places.

Many roads including Badrinath-Rishikesh national highway have been opened for vehicular traffic on Friday which were blocked for the last one week.

Meanwhile, after the destruction, the relief operations were continued in the state on Friday as well. According to District Magistrate of Uttarkashi Hemlata Dhondiyal, about four hundred Yaatris were rescued from Chiniyalisaud by the National Disaster Relief Force.

Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank accompanied by cabinet minister Prakash Pant has visited affected areas of Pithoragarh and Almora and directed the officials to gear up relief work.
