Badrinath Dham’s gate to close on Nov 18


The holly shrine of Badrinath Dham's door will be closed on November 18 for the winter season.

The process to close the door was started on Tuesday and it would be finally closed for the six months due to heavy snow and rough weather condition.

Chief religious leader of Badrinath Dham Jagdamba Prasad Sati told reporters that the punch puja of presiding deity has been underway at this moment and Lord Ganesha's idol near Lord Hanuman idol has been shifted to 'Garbha Griha’.

Despite of incessant rain and poor weather, a large number of devotees paid obeisance to the holly shrine. Around 11 lakh devotees across the country visited the temple this year. An estimated Rs 11 crore received as offering this year.

On November 18, the statue of deity Uddhav will be shifted to Lord Pandukeshwar. During the closure period, the Idol of Uddhav will be worshiped at Pandukeshwar for the upcoming six months. Apart from this, the throne of the Adi Guru Snakaracharya and Doli (Chair) of the deity will be brought to Narsinh Temple at Joshimath for the worship.

Other three dham of the Uttarakhand - Gangotri, Yamunotri and Kedarnath - have already been closed for winter session.
