Injured tigress gets treatment in Uttarakhand

Veterinarians treated a four-year old tigress who was injured in a fight with another animal in the Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand.

The tigress is unable to move her lower body and veterinarians suspect a vertebral problem.

"The tigress is depressed. When I checked the reflex of the tigress, I saw that the lower portion of her body is not moving. It is possible that she is suffering from vertebral problem or neurological problem," said J. L. Singh, a veterinarian in Pantnagar University.

"It would be immature to comment anything without treating her. We are doing our best and would be giving her lifesaving therapy and do the X-rays later," he added.

The tiger population in India is falling to around 1,450 from around 3,700 in 2001-2002. By Vipul Goel (ANI)
