CM flags off train, says Anand Vihar becoming a transport hub

New Delhi, Jan 25 (PTI) The Anand Vihar railway stationin east Delhi is developing as a crucial transport hub, ChiefMinister Sheila Dikshit said today as she flagged off a new train to Kathgodam in Uttarakhand from there.

After flagging off the tri-weekly Anand Vihar-Kathgodam Express train, she said it will increase the connectivitybetween Delhi and Kathgodam which is the base point forpopular tourist destinations like Nainital.


Dikshit said the Anand Vihar station is developing as acrucial transport hub as it is having Delhi Metro andInter-state Bus Terminus in its vicinity.

This hub is going to benefit lakhs of passengers fromDelhi and Uttar Pradesh everyday by providing better city andinter-state transport services, she said.

Dikshit expressed hope that more new trains will startoriginating from Anand Vihar Rail Terminal.

The Delhi-Kathgodam train was proposed in the rail budgetof 2010-11. It will run on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays inboth directions.

While the train will depart from Anand Vihar at 6 AM and reach Kathgodam at 11.50 AM on the same day, in the return direction it will depart from Kathgodam at 3.45 PM to reach Anand Vihar at 9.55 PM the same evening.

The train will consist of AC-I, AC-II and AC-III coachesalongwith two power cars.

Dikshit also announced that the frequency of Hazrat Nizamuddin-Manikpur UP Sampark Kranti Express and Hazrat Nizamuddin-Khajuraho Link Express is being increased fromthree days to six days a week.
