Rishikesh (Uttarakhand), Jan 7 (PTI) A male elephant was today killed and another seriously injured in two separate fights for supremacy between the pachyderms.
A 45-year-old tuskless male elephant was killed in a fight with another elephant in the jungles of Saneh, Kotdwar Divisional Forest Officer, Narendra Singh said.
Another incident took place in the jungles of Motichur range of Rajaji Park where a tusker was seriously injured during a fight with another elephant. Veterinary doctors are giving treatment to the elephant.
Wildlife experts said that during winters, male elephants usually fight with each other to establish their supremacy over others as it is their mating season.
