Kumaon (or Kumaun) kumaun is one of the two regions and administrative divisions of Uttarakhand, a mountainous state of northern India, the other being Garhwal. It includes the districts of Almora, Bageshwar, Champawat, Nainital, Pithoragarh, and Udham Singh Nagar. It is bounded on the north by Tibet, on the east by Nepal, on the south by the state of Uttar Pradesh, and on the west by the Garhwal region. The people of Kumaon are known as Kumaonis. Situated around 90 KMs from Almora. Located on the confulence of rivers Saryu and Gomti, Bageswer is the seat of the famous Uttaraini fair which is held every year in January.
Champawat
Champawat is situated 1615 meters. above sea level. The Ram Ganga River acts as a border between Champawat and Pithoragarh in north while Jabgura and Pannar rivers in south and west act as a border between Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar and Almora districts simultaneously. The long chain of mountain in southwestern region acts as a border between the district Champawat and Nainital district. It is important from the defence point of view as in the east Kali river acts the international border between Nepal and India.
Jim Carbet Park
Jim Corbett National Park—named after the hunter and naturalist Jim Corbett who played a key role in its establishment—is the oldest national park in India. Situated in Nainital district of Uttarakhand, the park acts as a protected area for the critically endangered Bengal tiger of India, the secure survival of which is the main objective of Project Tiger, an Indian wildlife protection initiative.
An ecotourism destination, it contains 488 different species of plants and a diverse variety of fauna. Once inside the park, the safari is great, you get to see very relaxing jungle views, several kinds of antelopes, birds, Langur monkeys, and of course- tigers!
Nainital

Ramnagar is a popular tourist spot in the region, famous as the headquarters of the Corbett National Park and Project Tiger. Project Tiger Headquarter, which is located 200 m to the north of the bus stand in the Nainital direction at Ramnagar. Another major activity in the vicinity is fishing, but fishing permits should be obtained for the Project Tiger office. An animal fair organized here on the occasion of Kartik Purnima every year is another popular event.
Pithoragarh
Pithoragarh district commencing its boundaries just at the foot of the Himalayas has acquired the unique distinction of being the holy land of gods and therefore, temples of very large variety dedicated to diverse gods. The enormous snow reservoirs act as a natural source of big rivers originating at the base of the lesser Himalayas. Rougly 30 per cent of the district wears the perpetual snow cover and the gigantic masses of sliding snow feed a number of glaciers which in turn feed the three important northern-most rivers namely Kuti Yangti, Dhauli and Gori.

Located 91 kms from Pithorgarh on the way to Berinag at an elevation of about 1350 mts this highly revered shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The way to the cave temple is through a long, narrow tunnel. Inside the cave the limestone formations have taken shape of many Gods and Goddesses of Hindu pantheon.
