Dehra Dun, Mar 2 (PTI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has suspended an Executive Engineer and a Block Development Officer for dereliction in duty, officials said today. During a multi-purpose camp at Vikasnagar area of Dehra Dun district yesterday, Nishank suspended Executive Engineer of power department R K Govil and BDO of Kalsi Sunil Kumar with immediate effect, taking the action on complaints by locals. The residents of the Katapatthar locality had complained to the Chief Minister that the power department had failed to electrify the area despite putting up electricity poles two years ago. When Govil failed to give a satisfactory reply, he was suspended. Similarly, a group of people apprised Nishank of the fact that they had applied for old age pension two years ago but they are still awaiting to get it sanctioned. Nishank wanted to know the reason for the delay but Kumar was not present in the meeting following which he was suspended. The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure their presence in each and every meeting called by higher authorities and meet local people regularly to redress their problems.
