Dehradun, Mar 3 (PTI) Landslides today blocked the route to the famous Badrinath shrine leading to hundreds of pilgrims being stranded at both sides of the Rishikesh-Badrinath national highway.
The highway was completely closed due to continuous landslides which caused heavy inconvenience to the commuters and tourists going to Chamoli and Rudraprayag, official sources said.
The local people are struggling with shortage of food, fuel and medical supplies leading to rise in the prices of essential commodities, they said.
The locals are demanding that the government build an alternative route to avoid the inconvenience caused to them due to the frequent landslides, the sources said.
