Dehra Dun, Apr 5 (PTI) The annual pilgrimage to Chardhams in the hill state of Uttarakhand will begin from May six with the reopening of portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri temples.
Doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines will be reopened for devotees on the auspicious occasion of Akshya Tritiya on May six, Gangotri temple committee president Sanjiv Semwal said.
Portals of other two shrines, Kedernath and Badrinath, will be thrown open to the faithful on May eight and nine respectively.
The Chardhams comprising the four shrines in Garhwal Himalayas remain closed during winter due to snowing.
All the four temples attract lakhs of pilgrims every year during the yatra season.
