Kashmir Solution Must Satisfy All: Farooq Abdullah

Union Minister and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah today said an amicable solution is needed for the Kashmir problem which satisfies the people of the state as well as India and Pakistan.

Addressing a press conference at Raj Bhawan here, he said just as India is living in harmony with Nepal, it needs to follow a similar approach in dealing with Pakistan.

When asked if India was capable of undertaking an operation on Pakistani soil similar to the one by the US to eliminate Osama bin Laden, he said India will only take the path of peace and talks.

"We will follow the route of talks and a solution will emerge within the framework of Indian Constitution," he said.

Abdullah, however, said that the increased presence of China along the international boundaries of Jammu and Kashmir was a matter of concern.

Citing the example of two Kashmiri Pandits wining the panchayat elections in Kashmir, the National Conference leader said he was hopeful of the return of the community to the Valley.

The state government would allocate land to those Kashmiri Pandits who had sold their property while migrating to other parts of the country, he said.

Talking about the diesel deregulation process, the Union minister for renewable energy said the coalition government at the Centre works for the concerns of majority of the people and not the majority in Parliament.
