Six killed in accident

New Tehri (Uttarakhand), May 29 (PTI) Six persons were killed and two others injured when the jeep they were travelling in fell into Alakanda river today in Devprayag area of Tehri district, police said.

While five persons died on the spot, another succumbed to injuries in a hospital.

The accident occurred when the vehicle was going from Chamoli to Rishikesh.

The injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital where their condition is stated to be critical.
Senior police officials reached at the spot and launched rescue work.

Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has expressed grief over the accident.
