Brinjal farmers to fetch maximum price in Sept this year

Major brinjal growing states in the country are West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, which together account for about 94 per cent of India's production. In Uttarakhand, brinjal is mainly grown in plains. It is grown on an area of 1685 hectares in the State. Dehradun, Hardwar, Udhamsingh Nagar and Nainital are the four major brinjal producing districts and constituted about 60 per cent of the total production in the state during 2009-10. In Uttarakhand, the peak period of round-shaped brinjal arrival to market is October to November though it starts arriving to market in August and lasts up to January.
