Cong MLA accuses U''khand govt of harassing him

Dehra Dun, Jun 29 (PTI) Congress MLA Kishor Upadhyay, who was evicted from the official residence alloted to him as a minister during the previous regime, today accused the the Uttarakhand government of deliberately harassing him.Upadhyay claimed that he is being harassed because he and his party are bringing embarrassment to the state government by raising the issues of rampant corruption. The MLA accused Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and several other BJP MLAs of illegally occupying official premises and wondered as to why similar action is not initiated against them."The Chief Minister is occupying several houses in the state capital itself. I want to ask the Estates Department as to when it will launch the similar action against him," Upadhyay, who was reportedly out of town when the eviction was done, told reporters after returning here.He charged the government with adopting different standards for MLAs belonging to BJP and those belonging to Congress. He said there should be a proper policy in place in this regard. The Congress leader said the claims made by the government that all legal proceedings were done before the eviction were wrong as the estates department had served no notice on him in this regard. The state estates department team along with police broke open the doors of Upadhyay's bungalow and shifted his belongings to an MLA transit hostel on June 26.
