'Nothing wrong in publishing pictures of leaders in govt ads'

Dehradun, Jun 24 (PTI) The ruling BJP today said that there is "nothing wrong" in using BJP President Nitin Gadkari's pictures in various advertisements of the state government's schemes, to which the Opposition had objected to. "The advertisement was about various government functions and launch of various schemes and it had nothing to do with the party (BJP) or his (Gadkari's) personal functions," said Uttarakhand media advisory committee chairman Devendra Bhasin. Senior Congress leader Harak Singh Rawat had yesterday criticised the state government for "wasting public money" by publishing the advertisements displaying photographs of Gadkari along with Chief Minister and asked for an inquiry into the matter. Rawat had also said that this was being done by the Chief Minister and the ruling BJP to make their high command happy. "When Rawat has no objection on photographs of Sonia Gandhi in advertisements then why he is opposed to pictures of Gadkari," Bhasin said. He said it seems that Congress leaders are getting frustrated due to rising popularity graph of BJP, in view of forthcoming Assembly elections.
