5 Nepali labourers die of electrocution in Uttarakhand

Five Nepali labourers travelling atop a bus were electrocuted to death and nine others were injured, two of them critically, at Hurbertpur near here today.

Police said the victims were part of a group of Nepali labourers travelling atop the bus from Dehradun to Tyuni.

When the bus reached Hurtberpur, the driver asked them to come down to avoid police checking. As they were alighting from the roof of the bus, one of them came in contact with a high tension electric wire passing through the area.

Others tried to pull him to safety but they also were electrocuted in the process. Five died on the spot while nine others received burn injuries. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where the condition of two is stated to be serious.
