Bodies of trekkers bought to Uttarkashi headquarters

Dehradun, Jul 21 (PTI) Bodies of eight trekkers, who went missing last year, were today brought to Uttarkashi district headquarters, officials said.The bodies were located in Uttarkashi's Vasukital area on July 12 by a trekking team from West Bengal which was on its way to Satopanth, officials said.A team of Indo-Tibetan Border Police consisting of 17 personnel was sent on July 15 to help disaster management and National Institute of Mountaineering officials in recovering the bodies, they said.Last September, eight trekkers from West Bengal had gone missing due to bad weather, Bhatwari Deputy District Collector Chandra Singh Dharmsattu said.Some documents have been found at the site where the bodies were located which indicate that the bodies of the trekkers are the same who went missing last year, he said.Relatives of the dead have been called to identify the bodies, he added.
