Kotdwara Garhwal, Jul 18 (PTI) The Uttarakhand unit of Mahila Congress has demanded 33 per cent tickets be given to women candidates for the 2012 Assembly polls. Speaking at a function here yesterday, state Mahila Congress Chief Sarojini Kaintura termed it as a necessary step for the socio-political empowerment of women in the state. Pointing at the key role played by women in the agitation for a separate Uttarakhand, Kaintura said they have not got fair representation in state politics even after more than ten years of its formation. Kaintura has also written a letter to the Congress high command in this regard, seeking reservation on 22 out of the 70 Assembly seats in the state.
