Dehra Dun July 8 (PTI) Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank today urged the Centre for giving Uttarakhand the status of an Ayush state and help it set up an Ayush Research Centre. Inaugurating a four-day Rashtriya Arogya Swasthya Mela organized here, Nishank also called for linking Ayurveda with employment in order to popularise it, said an official release. Besides, special emphasis must be laid upon quality control at every level like production, exploitation and marketing, he said. Nishank pointed out that Uttarakhand is also the birth-place of Ayurveda. Nishank said the state government has decided to include Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy in the academic curriculum at various levels. An International Research Centre in the field of Ayush is also being established in Uttarakhand in addition to an Ayush village at Bhawali in Nainital district. Nishank said with a view to linking Ayurveda with employment, the state government had linked 22000 farmers with cultivation of medicinal-plants and it has set a target to link 50000 more farmers with it in near future.
