Dehra Dun, Aug 19 (PTI) After taking a one-day break, incessant rains today again lashed Uttarakhand, paralysing normal life and hampering power generation in the state. Major rivers like Ganga and Yamuna are also rising, inundating low-lying areas. The state-run UJVN limited, the main power company in the state, generated around 13.5 million units as against the normal average daily production of 20 million units during this season, an official said. A red alert has already been sounded in the state where heavy rains triggered landslides and floods, blocking roads and forcing suspension of the Chardham yatra for a week. 60 people have died so far in various rain-related incidents in the state this season. The heavy rains also hit industrial activities like transportation of raw material and finished goods.
