Support swells for Anna Hazare in Uttarakhand

The education 'Bandh' of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) to support Anna Hazare's campaign against corruption evoked warm response in Uttarakhand on Thursday. The closure was successful and most of the schools and colleges remained close in Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Tehri districts of the hill state.

Leaving Pithoragarh, market places functioned normally in most part of the state. The Pithoragarh Vypar Mandal extended support to the anti corruption movement of Anna Hazare and decided to close their shops on Thursday.

In Dehradun the ABVP members began their day early. Riding on motorcycles, the youths forcibly closed many schools. They even ensured that even the education institutes located on the outskirts of the city remains close. In the past the affect of the closure used to be limited to the 5 kms area of the city. But this time the affect was felt even in the outskirts of the Dehradun city.

The closure passed away peacefully, stating this Dehradun's Senior Superintendent of Police GS Martolia says, "No untoward incident was reported from any part of the city. School and colleges remained close. The market functioned normally in Dehradun on Thursday."

The ABVP members had exchange of hot words with a couple of staff of private collages in Dehradun.

Due to heavy rain school and colleges are close in Almora and Pithoragarh districts since the past three days. So in these two districts the ABVP had to do noting for the Bandh.
