Deputy jailor shot dead in Roorkee

Roorkee, Uttarakhand: In a shocking incident, the deputy jailor posted at Roorkie jail was shot dead by unknown persons early Monday.

As per initial reports, jailor Narendra Thapa was fired upon by motorbike borne assailants near the jail premises. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Senior police officials are rushing to the spot. There is no word yet about the motive behind the gruesome murder but initial reports suggest that it may be related to some issue relating to his work as a jailor at the high security jail which houses many hardcore criminals.
