Dehradun, Sep 14 (PTI) Concerned over repeated landslides in the state often blocking key roads including Chardham yatra routes, Uttarakhand government today directed senior officials to find alternative ways to deal with the problem. Uttarakhand Chief Minister B C Khanduri, who recently replaced Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, also directed the Chief Secretary to take concrete steps for the reconstruction of roads damaged in landslides. Chairing a meeting of government officials last evening, Khanduri directed the Chief Secretary to find out ways to deal with the problem of recurring landslides at sensitive points such as Sirobagar and Lambagar en route to the four Himalayan shrines (Chardham) in the state, an official release said. He also directed the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to make alternative routes in case the repair of roads is not possible for the time being. "The paucity of funds would not be allowed to come in the way of smooth execution of these repair works," the Chief Minister said. While reviewing the disaster management works, Khanduri directed the Chief Secretary to ensure that the funds sanctioned under the disaster head are utilised timely. In this regard, he said, "Disaster-affected as well as disaster-prone areas should be identified and steps taken for their rehabilitation." PTI
