Dehra Dun, Sep 20 (PTI) A bill aiming to provide public services within a stipulated time-frame will be tabled in the coming session of the Uttarakhand Assembly. The draft of the Right to Public Service bill, which seeks to provide the common man hassle-free public service like ration card, electricity connection, driving licence and birth and death certificates within a specified time frame, was today cleared by the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister B C Khanduri, officials said. The cabinet also gave nod to a bill on transfer of government officials, they said, adding the proposed Act would ensure compulsory posting of government servants to remote and far flung areas, they said. In a move aimed at eliminating corruption, the state cabinet also cleared the draft of a proposed legislation that will enable the government to confiscate wealth and property acquired by public servants through illegal means, they said. The cabinet also decided to scrap the 1893 notification governing protected forest, thereby removing hurdles posed by the Forest Act in execution of development projects in the state.
