Dehra Dun, Oct 11 (PTI) Strengthening Lokayukta's office and bringing the Chief Minister under its ambit besides setting up of a department for corruption eradication are among major decisions taken by the B C Khanduri government in Uttarakhand which completed one month in office today. 76-year-old Khanduri was sworn in as sixth chief minister of Uttarakhand on September 11 after BJP decided to remove Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank to salvage its sagging image in the poll-bound hill state following corruption charges and intra-party feuds. Khanduri, in his second innings at the chief minister, has taken several steps for ensuring good governance and clean, transparent and accountable administration in the state, said an official release here. The government has decided to strengthen the office of Lokayukta and bring the Chief Minister under its ambit, it said. A department of good governance, corruption eradication and public service has been set up to fight corruption. All the ministers and IAS and IPS officials have been directed to declare their assets by October 15, it said. Right to Public Service Act has been passed to provide ration cards, revenue records, birth ahd death certificates and driving licence within a specified time frame, the release said. An Act has been passed to confiscate properties of public servants earned through illegal and unfair means and utilise them in public interest. Under the Act, special courts would be set up to deal with the matter. In order to make the process of transfer of government employees fair and transparent, a law has been formulated replacing the previous transfer policy.
