Dehradun, Oct 28 (PTI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister B C Khanduri today flayed the central government for excluding the state from the list of states for setting up of 21 textile parks at an investment of Rs 2,100 crore. The Chief Minister told reporters here that UPA-ruled states were given the maximum number of Textile Parks and Uttarakhand was discriminated against by the central government. The central government yesterday said it has sanctioned setting up 21 of integrated textile industrial parks with world class infrastructure involving a total development cost of Rs 2,100 crore. Six of these parks would come up in Maharashtra, four in Rajasthan, two each in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, one each in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Jammu & Kashmir and West Bengal. The newly appointed BJP Chief Minister expressed anguish over the Centre withdrawing the industrial package given to Uttarakhand in 2010. The special industrial package with several concessions for setting up new units was provided in 2003 by the NDA government and was due to expire on March 31, 2010. But in January, the commerce ministry had recommended to the Prime Minister and the finance ministry that the package be extended till 2013. The Chief Minister said if the step-motherly attitude of UPA-ruled government continues, Uttarakhand would turn into "state of barren land with meagre source of employment." PTI
